This shovel (L19a and L19b) was made in the Century Guild workshops. It is part of a set of 3 fire-irons, with a small iron shovel and long brass handle terminating in a knop with a repousse design of a swan. The unusual shape was perhaps suitable for stoking French stoves in rooms at 20, Fitzroy Street, which is where the Century Guild’s headquarters were located.
